About Anwer M Siddiqi

Dr. Anwer Siddiqi obtained his medical degree from Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan, and completed a masters in clinical immunology followed by pathology residency training at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed cytopathology fellowship training at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. He is board-certified in anatomic pathology and cytopathology. In 2002, he joined the faculty of the University of Mississippi School of Medicine as assistant professor and rose to the rank of attending pathologist, associate professor and residency program director in the Department of Pathology by 2008. He also served as co-director of the M2 Pathology course. In December 2012, he joined the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville Department of Pathology as the residency program director. The campus has a fully ACGME-accredited residency program with no citations and a 100% board pass rate for the past five years.

Clinical Profile

We have a very active cytopathology / Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy (FNAB) service and I personally perform FNAs for oncology, ENT, oral maxillofacial surgery and other services on a routine basis. We provide Rapid Onsite Evaluation (ROSE) and reporting of all image guided biopsies. I am also certified in performing ultrasound-guided FNABs.

Research Profile

My research interests include gynecologic cytology and HPV testing, as well as fine-needle aspiration biopsy and its surgical correlation in the diagnosis of head and neck tumors and breast cancers. I also work with a group at the University of Utah on pathophysiology and therapeutic aspects of galactosemia.
