About Mehdi S Mirsaeidi

Mehdi Mirsaeidi, M.D., M.P.H., has completed training in internal medicine, infectious disease and pulmonary and critical care medicine. He pursued training in interstitial lung disease, or ILD, and sarcoidosis at the University of Illinois at Chicago. In 2015, Dr. Mirsaeidi joined the University of Miami and, as a member of ILD program, he developed Sarcoidosis Center of Excellence at the university.

In 2021, he joined the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville as division chief. Dr. Mirsaeidi is also director of the ILD and Sarcoidosis Program at UF Health in Jacksonville.

Dr. Mirsaeidi has continuously contributed to a number of publications from international research groups, highlighting his multi-disciplinary approach to complex medical questions. He has established a vibrant and productive research team in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care. His current role has allowed him to develop strong relationships with many disciplines with all relevant sectors from medical staff, researchers, patients and policy makers.

Dr. Mirsaeidi is an active member of many respiratory societies in the U.S. and Europe. In addition, he serves on the editorial board of numerous pulmonary journals, some of which he holds leadership roles. Dr. Mirsaeidi is a scientific reviewer for many major journals and national and international extramural funding agencies.

His lab is interested in studying novel biomarkers that are involved in the mechanism of sarcoidosis, ILD and lung cancer. His team has discovered role of GHRHR in inflammation and lung cancer with a focus on small cell lung cancer (SCLC).
