About Rachel M Carpenter
Rachel Carpenter, MD, is an assistant professor for the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville Department of Psychiatry and a board-certified psychiatrist at UF Health in Jacksonville. Her primary role is caring for patients and teaching residents on the acute psychiatric unit for adults who require mental health treatment and stabilization. Dr. Carpenter additionally assists in leading the consultation-liaison team.
In the context of recent legislative changes, Dr. Carpenter has a deep interest in women’s mental health and in her career she hopes to identify interventions that emphasize women’s resilience and wellness, specifically during reproductive years.
Dr. Carpenter is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Medicine, and served as chief resident in the department of psychiatry in Jacksonville, Florida. She was awarded both Psychiatry Resident Teacher of the Year and Resident of the Year in June 2022. She also was a finalist for the inaugural Leon L. Haley Jr., MD, Leadership Award for Inclusive Excellence.
