On April 28, the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville held the 2nd annual Women in Medicine and Science Conference University of Florida Health Science Center Jacksonville’s. This year’s theme entitled, Be the CEO of Your Career – Turning your Intellectual Capital into Career Capital, drove three quality sessions for attendees to gain knowledge to benefit their careers in medicine and science.
Agnees Chagpar, MD, facilitated a session on negotiation. Dr. Chagpar identified tools to efficiently negotiate at all career stages.
Earle G. Airey, III, MPODM, discussed the importance of balance in personal life experiences and in the work place. Airey shared best practices on how to master a calendar and set healthy expectations to create a positive and productive working and at home environment.
Janet Bickel, MAM AB, focused on using communication skills to effectively communicate and lead in the workplace. Tips offered to attendees included building communications skills, converting conversations that may seem uncomfortable into discussable ones and identifying challenges of women and people of color may face.
